People in school today never listen to the teachers. They talk when the teacher is talking, and totally disrespect the teacher. These students should treat the teacher with respect. Respect is showing high regard for ones self, other people, and other people's property.
             In order to be respectful a person must first respect himself. He should not harm himself by using alcohol or other harmful drugs. When someone does harmful drugs it shows very little self-respect. The person does not show high regard for his health and safety. Teenagers often do not show much respect for themselves because of doing drugs. Also people should always try there hardest on everything. A person should think highly of his/her self, and not give up because he thinks he cannot succeed. This shows respect for one's self.
             A person should not only respect him self, but also other people. A person should give positive remarks to their friends. They should not put them down, by saying negative things about them. If the person respects his friend, then they think highly of them, and wont put them down. Also to show respect to people one should listen to what others have to say. Lots of times when people speak to others, other people will talk to someone else, or just tune the speaker out. This does not show respect to the speaker. They should be quite and listen to the person speaking. Respecting others is very important if you want to be respected.
             One should not only respect other people, but their property too. Say for instance, someone borrows his or her neighbor's rake. The person should return the rake to their neighbor in the exact condition it was in when they got it. They should not abuse the rake while they have it, but treat it like it is their own.
