Expose the Noise: Music Through Time
Rock and Roll has been apart of peoples lives for an extremely long time; classic rock, modern rock and hard rock can be classified by development of their lyrics over time. There lyrics are similar but very different in there own way. With Classic rock having one tone and Modern with another and Hard rock with a completely different sound all evolved from the same background.
Beginning with classic rock, developed in the early 60's during a time of war and peace with oneself. People started listening to music that dealt with everyday situations, whether it was drugs, sex and love or peace. All the lyrics in someway had something to with one of the mentioned types. Hippies are the common people you have grown to remember during this era. They loved to get high and soak up all the music, while dancing around and singing along. These people were the ones that were at peace with oneself. While American soldiers were over seas fighting in Vietnam; they loved to listen to this music on there bases to try to feel as close to home as possible.
Next would be Modern rock with a more up beat sound and a complete change in lyrics. Modern rock has more developed lyrics with more detail for what is discussed. More of a story is told with every word sung. People enjoy this music because it was a change from the original. Change is sometimes needed. Lyrics and instruments need to deviate from the original to help get a better sound and sell more records.
Finally would be Hard rock developed from both types of rock; has a more aggressive sound that will pick you up and throw you down with its heart pounding sound and strong lyrics. Many of the songs are sung from a negative angle but many come from positive point of view also. People tend to listen to this music as a sort of release from the mind. Stress, anger and pain can be let out through this music, sort of a outlet per-say.
