Ethics in America`

In the beginning I felt as though I was taking a class with no meaning. I wondered to my self "how will I ever stay awake through this". This is how I recall my first day of class, as we watched a video about Greek civilization. I opened my book titled Western Vision and American Values thinking this may be interesting. As I got into the first chapter Contesting World Traditions I grew confused and disinterested by the complexity of the readings which seemed to be a lot of philosophical "jibber jabber" but as I opened my mind to the readings I was exposed to a deeper understanding of American History including the birth of the system of government a values that are now the core of America. In chapter one of our text Contesting World traditions we learned of the many views and religious beliefs that have shaped our country. The first reading by Eagle Man a contemporary Native American writer shares his views on nature and humanity and the responsibility we have to nature and mother earth as human beings. Eagle Man expressed that man see views himself as being related to all things. Eagle wrote; " Our survival is dependent on the realization that mother earth is a truly holy being that all things in this world are holy and must

" Gladiators not only participate in the above activities but are also Capstone Project 5drawn into the political fray; they attend meetings, campaign, become active in a party, solicit money, run for and hold public and party office. Week six we focused on the American market including the economy, relationships between the rich and poor, capitalism and democracy . In the United States we pay for Health insurance in case we need it. Ricardo said, " that the expanding population could not be fed because there was a lack of fertile land in the world. Aristotle goes on to tie the two characterizations together and develops the ideal citizen for democracy using the Greeks as his evidence he explains how they fit the mold lacking only in the fact that they were unable to agree on a type of government. Capitalism has allowed individuals to unequally better their conditions but the conditions of all are improved. In 1960 in the United States Health care was a 27b dollar industry in 1999 in grew into a trillion dollar industry a trillion dollars allocated solely for health care can go along way. To Kristol people who were not interested in understanding capitalism invented social justice. Carnegie feels the millionaire should be a trustee for the poor entrusted with the wealth of the community but responsible to administer fairly this wealth throughout the community. This thesis in my opinion is lacking scientific insight but is accurate for the insight of 350 B. Aristotle explains his theory through the qualities these citizens must posses and justifies his position by characterizing middle easterners and Asians. Those who make a transition from spectator to gladiator are the "transitionals" those who participate in a wider repertoire of political acts, such as making monetary contributions to candidates and attending political meetings".
