             Same-Sex Marriages: Should they be Legalized?
             Same-sex marriages remain a widely disputed controversy. Like in any conflict people tend to ignore the issue, pretending that since it does not affect their immediate, and every day life, that it does not exist. Same-sex marriages became a huge conflict partly because it closely involves the people that strike the controversy in the first place. In the book Getting to YES it depicts specific tools to solve conflicts such as legalizing same-sex marriages and or unions.
             Same sex marriages and or unions have already been legalized in a few states and it is a quest for the couples to make those few states become all of the states. In addition to getting notice in the United States countries all over the world, including Europe, are starting to adopt the legalization process for their countries (Merin 12). Same sex partners are having a lot more luck in Europe than in the United States. This is solely attributed to the more laid back, liberal stance that Europeans take (Merin 22). Moreover in Europe there is a reportedly "25 percent of multinational corporations that are prepared to recognize same-sex partners when recruiting men and women for jobs in Europe" (Garvey 5). However most other countries are more laid back than the United States. For example, in Germany the government has already legalized same-sex unions, stating that it is inevitable that these unions will be legalized some day so why not sooner ("Same-Sex Partners Win Legal Status in Germany" 6). Europeans can legalize it why can't America? That is precisely the conflict.
             It is important to understand that not only does a conflict of interest arrive, but it plays a huge role in solving the conflict. Interest is important to both sides.
