Queen Elizabeths Speech

Queen Elizabeth's speech had the tone of bravery and loyalty. Everything she says in it leads to the theme of the piece which is; she will be there with her troops if need be and she believed they were fighting for a just and noble cause. Through her primarily complex sentences such as, "My loving people, we have been persuaded by some, that are careful of safety, to take heed how we commit ourselves to armed multitudes for fear of treachery; but I assure you, I do not desire to live to distrust my faithful and

This shows through poetical devices how strongly she is convicted of her feelings and her actions as a queen. She even says that she has a feeble body but the heart of a King, not just any King, the King of England. She shows this through her word choice, which consists of long and meaningful words and sentences that help flow together to one main idea of loyalty. She uses adjectives like, "faithful, loving, noble and worthy" to describe both her self and her troops again, to create a sense of unity. She wants them to know that they are out there doing the right thing and she will be too if need be. loving people," she drives home her point and also supports it with multiple examples. I would also like to add in pride though, the overall effect of the piece was to make the troops feel pride in their actions as a unified group with a strong queen behind them. The diction of this piece is highly formal and learned as would most pieces written by a queen addressing her troops. These words were carefully chosen to make her troops proud and ready for battle. She says "my people" and "loyal" many times to show how unified and loyal both she and her subjects are to each other. The sentences are long which helps add to the drama and serious feel of the piece. Queen Elizabeth uses the rhetorical device of recurring images throughout the piece. As I have said before, the overall tone of the piece is one of bravery both on Queen Elizabeth's part and the troops.
