Asian American Equality in America
Though the average Caucasian American may believe that inequality among races is a thing of the past, the Asian American community believes differently. Asian Americans still feel stereotyped and like victims of racism. They don't like the generalization "Asian American" offers, as they are all from different backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, & religions. Some, such as Chinese & Vietnamese are traditional enemies. Our government does recognize this inequality as an issue, which is why the President renewed the Executive Order on Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders. If we weren't, life would be boring, because that would mean we have no opinion. It's like having an overbearing parent down your neck all the days and nights of your life. Peel back the layers and we basically have the same emotional, mental & spiritual wants and needs as our black, white, blue or yellow brother or sister. One interesting item found on the sites was the encouragement to other Asian Americans to take action against this kind of racism. They must set aside the image that we are all different or unequal humans, and accept the fact that we are Americans. They feel much pressure not felt by other races to be studious & intelligent. Discrimination, racism, and stereotyping are all things we could live peacefully with out. This type of encouragement & discussions boards allows real issues to be given a face and to be talked about and hopefully resolved. Discrimination is not giving one the opportunity to be judged on their own actions. Though we are mostly different and unequal when it comes to physical & material things, we have a common ground.
