Saving Private Ryan
This movie Saving Private Ryan is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is the story of Captain John Miller's (Tom Hanks) journey to find Private James Francis Ryan (Matt Damon). It starts off with an older man neeling down at a grave of someone and thinking about something. Then it went to a boat of soldiers waiting to make a surprise attack (D-Day). These soldiers get off the boat most of them are shot. This was so sad for me to think of all the men and boys who were killed in this attack. They eventually get to a sea wall where more soldiers are killed. The shooting stops with a view of all the tragic happenings, the water on sea is red and there are people yelling out in agony some for medics and some for mothers. This is a tear jerking scene because it is so real, this is really what happened. Capt. Miller orders soldiers to go over the wall and attack German gun implacements, this is mostly successful because a sniper Private Jackson (Barry Pepper) shoots the German that is shooting at the allieds. When shooting he recites verses from the bible. After this the remaining troops go up the hill and finish off the German resistance. This scene is said by D-Day survivors t
Miller is told that of four Brothers by the last name Ryan three of them were killed only one is left. After making sure they were not in harm the 6 men proceded to the tank and another American group came up to them They had shot the panzer with a bazooka. Then TheOlder man came back looking at the grave of Capt. The Captain's Translator was killed in the Invasion so he got a new one for this mission. This movie made me realize the true meaning of war. Back at the Bridge the Capt's injuries were weakening him and while on the verge of death let Private Ryan lean down and told him, "Earn It" Then the Captain passed away because of wounds. This is his first account of the real time war he is terrified he is spared by the German he let go, but the others weren't so lucky. I felt relieved at this point they could all go home and Private Ryan would go home to his Mother. He then asked his wife emotionally, "Did_______________" It then Ended with an American Flag blowing in the wind. But not yet, Private Ryan he felt that he should not go home because his unit was still guarding a bridge. At this point I was very sad that only a few survived and I felt sick to think that that really happened during WWII.
