Smoking

Cigarette smoking is known to be the cause of most lung cancers. The risk of the disease increases with the number of cigarettes smoked. Filtered and low tar cigarettes may reduce the risk slightly, but it is still far greater than that of a non-smoker. If a person stops smoking, the risk of lung cancer goes down quite quickly, and after about fifteen years their chances of developing the disease are similar to that of a non-smoker. It now known that breathing in other people's cigarette smoke, known as passive smoking, slightly increases the risk of lung disease and cancer, although the risk is still much less than if you smoke yourself. Although pipe and cigar smokers have a lower risk of lung cancer than cigarette smokers they are at a much greater risk than non-smokers. Depending on which organs are affected, symptoms can include headaches, weakness, pain, bone fractures, bleeding, or blood clots. At this time, over half of the lung cancer cases in the United States are in men, but the number found in women is increasing and will soon equal that in men. After researching all this information I can truly say I will not smoke,because Lung cancer of any kind sounds painful and expensive to cure. Because of the large size of the lungs, cancer may grow for many years without anyone knowing. They can show the size, shape, and location of a tumor. There are a few symptoms Lung cancer may cause like a cough which is one of the more common ones and is likely to happen when a tumor grows and blocks an air passage to your lungs. There may also be symptoms that do not seem to be at all related to the lungs.
