Definition Essay

As a society, we must all obey the law. Everywhere that we turn, rules, and regulations are forced upon us to make life better. Manuals such as the Modern Language Association give useful information on cheating and how to avoid it. These Companies developed their own set of rules that apply to the student body. In accordance with the university policy, aiding and abetting are strictly forbidden. Examples of such acts include cheating on an exam, helping someone else to cheat or plagiarizing an essay. It is the civic duty and responsibili

ty of all students to report a student who has decided to cheat. The student, who does cheat, only cheats himself of knowledge. Although some students realize this, they may still decide not to report a person who is cheating. All students are required to tell on someone who has been aiding or abetting. Students naturally befriend one another, so some of them may choose not to report a cheater. The teacher that is involved would be considered not doing their job due to the fact that the student did not learn anything. They may feel that if they tell the professor, the cheater may dislike them from that point on and react by not talking to them any more. No one likes a tattle-tail, so the students may opt to stay out of the cheater's business. It is unfair to the classmates because they had to work hard to prepare for the tests and no one else should be able to breeze their way through the course by cheating. Everyone should realize that one cheater is unfair to the whole education process. The reason that we must report cheaters is due the fact that it is unfair to everyone involved. Also, people cheat all the time, so they may not say anything about one student committing this crime because they themselves don't want anyone to tell on them. It is simply the right thing to do because school policy requires that of us.
