About two days before you are going to purchase your broilers, you should have their area pre-heated to a temperature of about 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Their bedding should be sawdust; this helps in clean up and also helps their feet and toes to develop better.
             Before purchasing your broilers you should investigate the producers where you are planning to acquire them. Some factors you should consider is, where were the chicks hatched at, have there been any outbreaks of diseases where the eggs are collected.
             The company should have a very good record, and should have a good live-to-cull ratio.
             The producers where you purchase your broilers from should also provide you with a list of the medications they were given at the time of their birth.
             When the broilers are in their first few weeks in life, they are very susceptible to death and diseases. When they are in the pin that you have constructed there is one factor you should consider heavily. While in the pin, the broilers can die very easily from heat exhaustion and the cold.
