"Basic Equipment for the Beginning Wakeboarder"
It is best for someone who is attempting to wakeboard for the first time go out equipped as best as possible. Wakeboarding is a past time in which someone puts on a board and rides behind a boat. It is much like water-skiing but standing sideways on a single board. While wakeboarding people often attempt more tricks than on water skis. Wakeboarding is hard enough for someone who has not ever tried it before, and if the beginner does not have the proper equipment it only makes it that much harder. To get the best out of the wakeboard experience a new rider will need a boat, a board, bindings, they must know the stance that is right for them, a good rope and the proper vest.
The first thing a beginner will need is a boat because without one they will just sit in the water and that can be done without a board. The best boats for wakeboarding have many qualities that make them a wakeboarding boat. A boat needs a big enough engine to get the rider out of the water while holding several friends inside. Walter Meloon the President and CEO Correct Craft explains, the heavier the boat with the deeper the hull will cause the boat to throw the biggest possible wake(4). A boat with a pylon or a tower would also be preferable, because the higher the rope from the water the better. That will cause you to boost higher when you attempting to jump the wake.
The next piece of equipment needed is a board. Get a board that is twin tipped or has an identical nose and tail. This is desired because future riding will call for riding forwards and backwards. To find the right board for you, you will need to know your weight. Hyperlite one of the oldest producers of boards in the industry, recommends:
Board size in centimeters Weight in pounds
