What Is Psychology?Contemporary Perspectives

             Nathan Is a Procrastinator. Everything he does is rushed and at the last minute. He is under a tremendous amount of stress all the time. He is a high school Senior at Downers Grove South High School. He is one of my Patients whose case is troubling me. I asked six of my colleagues to come and assist me in helping my clients' case. The six colleagues I called to help me each is an expert in one of the six contemporary perspectives of psychology. The Six experts are Biff (The Biological Perspective), Chocolate (The Cognitive Perspective), Honey (Humanistic Perspective), Peaches (Psychoanalytic Perspective), Lucy (The learning Perspectives), Suzy (The Sociocultural Perspective) they will each analyze Nathan's case according to his or her perspective.
             Biff looks at the Biological perspectives of how Nathan's behavior could be changed. The biological perspective emphasizes the influence of biology on our behavior. Psychologists assume that our mental process- our thoughts, fantasies, and dreams are made possible by the nervous system.. That points to or brain. Biological psychology has shown that certain parts of the brain are highly active when we listen to music, other parts are active when we solve math problems, and still other parts are involved with certain psychological disorders. Hormones and genes they can have various behavior patterns might influence his behavior. Hormones are chemicals that glands release into the blood stream to set in motion various body functions, such as growth and digestion. Genes are the basic units of heredity. Biological psychologists study the influences of genes on personalities traits such as intellectual or artistic talent, psychological health and various behavior patterns.
