EU vs. US Logistics Challenges
Recalling the historic importance of ending the division of the European continent and the need to create a firm base for future growth in Europe, members of the European Communities met in 1992 to promote European economic integration. Member nations were determined to advance economic and social progress for their people. There was a need to facilitate the free movement of persons while ensuring their safety and security. Members signed a Treaty to promote a balanced and sustainable single market economy, strengthen cohesion and to implement policies that would establish the European Union (EU). The Maastrich Treaty resolved to mark a new stage in the process of European integration. The United States took measures into their own hands and made a provision called extraterritorial income. The United States believes that the European Union is engaged in dumping their prices in foreign markets and that the European Union is still at an advantage from state subsidies they have received in the past. The World Trade Organization found this similar to the first provision and in violation of their standards. Globalization on sustainable mobility places the emphasis on trade, e-commerce, and tourism. An event or policy that seems small in the mind of one culture can be devastating in the mind of another. Improving the links between the central and the more peripheral regions may make it easier for firms in the latter to market their products in central regions, but also enables producers in these central regions to invade peripheral markets previously protected by their remoteness. For example, a law regarding multi-modal transport entrepreneurs is still required in EU as well as a series of acts for simplifying and harmonizing custom procedures and documents, maintaining a liberal exchange policy, etc. The World Trade Organization made a ruling on this issue and found in favor of the European Union. Culture and work-habits remain a critical component when deciding whether to move or expand business internationally. International work habits are also an important factor in international expansion. To capitalize on these opportunities we must keep in mind that we are dealing with a union of countries with long histories and deep-set cultures. The EU is united with the rest of the world to condemn al Qa'ida and to show that the international campaign against terrorism was not an attack on Islam. It has expanded several times since its foundation, often incorporating countries less prosperous than the original Member States.
