Macbeth
Shakespeare's Macbeth is one of his most recognized tragedies. Although written long before this time, it is still widely preferred over more modern pieces of literature to impart knowledge on students of the middle school, high school and even the college level. In this tragedy Shakespeare accounts the compelling drama of the brave but flawed Thane, Macbeth. Macbeth is a tragic hero, a person of high rank but unfortunately, with flaws to match. Because of these fatal weaknesses a chain of untimely events is triggered which leads to his eventual downfall. Macbeth's character is developed from the notion presented to him by the three witches with the tangible possibility to become a powerful king. At the beginning of the play Macbeth is portrayed as a trustworthy and loyal hero. The influence of his ambitious wife contoured his vision of greatness and also manipulated his unstable and sensible persona. By the end of the play Macbeth's character has mutated and he has committed a series of devilish acts that cascade out of control. Although the reader is repulsed by Macbeth's change in character he/she cannot help but pity Macbeth in his situation and recognize his flaws and circumstances which pulled him blindly toward his gre

" - - Here Macbeth confesses to Lady Macbeth his eagerness to be rid of Banquo and Fleance. To Macbeth, Duncan was loyal and hardworking. When you durst do it, then you were a man; and to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man. The Witches condemned Macbeth with their first encounter. By his own ambition, Macbeth collapsed under pressure. In the beginning of the play Lady Macbeth's character was cold-hearted and power-thirsty in contrast to Macbeth's character which started out as being more caring and compassionate about the sacrifices being made to achieve the crown. ed and desire to achieve power and high status. However, the three witches conspired to discard this view of intangible power and status, not for Macbeth's well-being, but for their own fiendish satisfactions. From the start of the play factors were already stirring to bring his downfall and demise, before he even reached a position to fall from. Lady Macbeth makes an endeavor to change Macbeth's mind, whereas before she was tempting him to kill, now she is trying to prevent it. Macbeth saw no need to escalate his noble status because, in actuality, the notion of becoming king was blocked by a hierarchy of Thanes and royal blood. Immediately after the crime had been commited Macbeth returned to Lady Macbeth and rambled - - "One cried 'God bless us!' and 'Amen' the other, as they had seen me with these hangman's hands: list'ning there fear, I could not say 'Amen,' when they did say 'God bless us!'" in this scene Macbeth was driving himself mad.
