Home schooling

A lot of parents these days prefer home schooling their children over the traditional school systems. Having a school system that is based on property taxes and periodic assesments is eventually bound to fail. Where I attended high school, everybody always argues about our three separate school zones that are bascially functioning against each other. The southern most schools are wealthier and the school on the other side of town is very underfunded. It is very good to have various means of education in a singe society because people "believe there is a strenth in a diverse network of homeschoolers that support the freedom of al

The education system in our country is just a smaller from of the "big" picture of society. Our education system never changes, it continually keeps the social class structure the same. If one were to look at the education system through a Functionalist point of veiw, one would see that the role and function of education is to teach knowledge, skills, provide cultural transmissions of values and social integratation. The conflict between the reailty and the ideal only further makes the system unbalaced. I agree with the Conflict perspective theory when it comes to educations role in our culture. "(NHEN mission statement) Seeing these facts it is easy to understand why so many parents decide to have their children homeschooled then taught at a public or private school. The students are the smallest unit of measure in this equation and exact replicas of the status quo. It is easy to see that functionalists look at how wducation benefits a society. l individual families to choose home education and to direct such education. I also believe that the teacher assumes and expects certain behavior from certain students. I will occasionally conform my energy level to the expectations of the particular teacher. The teacher will segregate the students into prescribed statuses, and therefore treats them all accordingly. Educationalso provides job opportunities and a large sense of individualism and competition.
