The Gay America
I just finished watching VH1's "Totally Gay" Show. It was a documentary that walked through the evolution of "Gay America" (through the influence of the media, of course) starting from the 80's all the way into an even Gay-er America for the future. Why was I watching the show? Even I was asking myself that question. Well, lets face reality. Gayness seems to be everywhere, in music, movies, tv, commercials, ads, stores. Gay is one of the top political issues, and discussed heavily in homes and on the streets. It's promoted in schools, communities, and here in livejournal. What does the "Gay America" have to do with me? A young, single, heterosexual, Christian female. Well, I happen to interact with homosexuals almost daily at my job, for a handful of my co-workers are gay. There are loved ones in my life also who are struggling with or have struggled with the issue of homosexuality. I'm planning on moving to a city that has one of the largest gay communities in America. And I am an a
Does that mean I'm homophobic? Most definitely not!! Let's disect the word "homophobic". ctive participating citizen of this nation who is responsible to vote for(or against) the very issues of the gay rights movement. And when I say Truth, I mean solid concrete Truth. I urge everyone to actively participate in the vote in 2004. And to pray for those out ministering to the homosexuals, for wisdom, discernment, and guidance. That means that sex is for one man to one woman within the scared bond of marriage, not for people to practice outside of marriage with whom ever they please, male/female/groups alike. So yeah, where am I heading with this? Well, I believe that the Bible is Truth. No, "whats right for you is right for you, but whats right for me is right for me. How can I (and who ever else out there) make an impact in our nation for Truth? By spreading the Love and the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, while rooting out the lies and confusing messages of homosexuality, without Hate. The Bible clearly states that marriage is a life-long commitment designed for one man and one woman, together. I also believe that there is a clear cut Right and Wrong.
