Education Failing to Promote
A very important and influential aspect of our everyday lives is the mass media. Whether or it be radio, television or the internet messages, comment and opinions, ideas and facts are distributed and acquired by numerous persons. No matter the age or sex or religion, everyone listens to the media. The media projects messages that everyone believes for one reason or the other. The public identifies with the facts or fiction that are sent out. The media is so significant whatever they relay to the public, we will absorb it and use it. For may years the mass media has tried to bring about peace among individuals, but as mentioned before, it was only an effort or try. They (media) have repeated tried and they repeat the same mistakes continuously. But the question is, "Is it really mistake?" Does the media really care about peace in the world? Many people do not believe that, especially when it pertains to racial and ethnic equality. Each year the media gets different ethnic groups to view their opinions openly but somehow they use these same opi
A perfect example of the media failing to help disseminate racial and ethnic equality would be in the case of the terrorist attacks of 9/11. In many people's view, mass media is an informal source of education, through the years it has failed to move people of the world along the road to equalization. The media focused on these people and their background for quite some time, thus, allowing the public to paint an image in their mind that all Afghanis are like the terrorist. However, in the heat of the discussion they bombard the person with the questions that target their race or background. The media has held back our society from moving forward where everyone. There are no non afro-Americans on it. This will only cause tension between cultures. Unfortunately, somewhere down the line they contradict themselves by voicing the notion that certain people should have restrictions. There are few commercials that show a person from a third world country in a high position at a work place. The media forces people to come forward about their feelings. This seems like it would help the economy but as soon as any world affair occurs, the individuals are locked at in a different way. Females from that country have to cover themselves from head to toe and just let their eyes be shown. The public already has a picture in their mind and it is always easier to persuade someone than to change them. Every race and their heritage deserve to be able to participate in freedom but this is not so.
