Drug Differences

             We all get headaches and other aliments of the body and in this day and age when we don't feel well we reach for something that could stop the pain. For some people, their headaches are stopped by the simple caffeine in a carbonated drink, such as Coke or Mt. Dew. For most people they go to their local store and pick up some sort of drug which was created to stop the pain or other problem which they might be having. So the question is, "What influences their decision to buy a certain drug?"
             Drug companies spend millions of dollars on advertising each year. Each one tells us that their the best. Often the compete with other name brand drugs. They state such thing as, "Tylenol is better then Advil" and vice versa. These are both used to stop pain but they are not even the same drug. But the reason for this is each drug company is fighting for our money. That's what it comes down to. Prescription drugs work the same way. When a new prescription drug comes out on the market, it is quite expensive and then when the license on the drug expires, it is free to be made by everyone. Thus the price of the drug significantly drops after a couple years.
             I went to my local pharmacy to compare the different drugs. I spoke with my pharmacist and asked him to help me with my project. It wasn't a busy day for him so he was free to walk around with me. We mostly spent out time with pain relievers. He showed me were I could find them and explained how and why they worked. It was all very informative.
             Then I began examining the drugs and told the pharmacist that I would have a few questions for him later. I found the common name brand drugs which I was accustomed to using.
