Cain and able
The book of Genesis tells of many things that the Christen and Jewish faith holds in their faith. One of the stories is the story of Cain and Able. The story of Cain and able Chapter 4 in the book of Genesis. A short simple summary of the story is that Adam and Eve have two sons first was Cain, second was Able. The two sons grew and Cain Worked the fields, well Able kept a flock of sheep. Cain brought God offerings of the fruit of the earth; well Able brought fat portions of the first born lambs. God favored Abel's offering over Cain's. This made Cain jealous of his brother. God asked Cain why he was jealous, if he was doing what was right. Cain later took his brother out to a field and killed him. God was angry with Cain and punished him by telling him the earth would not bare him fruit ever agen; he also makes it so Cain can not be killed by another man. Cain left their and went off and made his own city an
The conflict of this passage is not that complex at first is looks simple it's a story of one brother being jealous of the other. The Biblical Primeval History suggest that, "The narrator shows what happened to mankind when once it had fallen from obedience to God," Other suggestions say that the author is suggesting a primeval struggle between God and sin. Instead, it focuses on Cain's reactions to this unexplained divine preference for the sacrifice of his brother. The passage in the end when Cain is sent off to the land of Nod, or land of wondering, with a mark on his body saying that on one is to kill him. Their are many differnt suggestions has to what the anouther of the passage is trying to tell the reader. The first part of verse 7, "If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?" This illustrates to me that that this passage is not about the simple question of god accepting one brothers offering over another; it is deeper it's a passage about sin. "The NIV translation makes it simpler to illustrate what is being said. I mean to explore why god did not explore why God acepted Able's gifts and not Cain's, what the conflict between the two brothers is and what is the authors point to the passage. ) A Commentary on the Holy Bible suggest that "The character of the brothers rather than their offerings are kept chiefly in view. The story in the bible it self dose not say why god favored Able's offering over Cains offering. 4: 7; "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is lurking at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.
