Henry V

About the name Henry V there hovers more controversy than any other king in England’s lengthy existence. King Henry was a great milestone in English history. Henry rose up from the slums of England to become arguably the greatest king in England’s vast, expansive and rich history. When Henry assumed the throne, many people doubted his ability as a king, for his reputation was tainted by his vulgar past, spending the larger part of his time in taverns downing glasses of ale. But Henry soon proved himself to be a commendable ruler following his victorious battles in France.

Henry radiated with optimism and motivation. Just one of his lone speeches empowered and moralised his troops

. . .
He had absolute confidence in the English army’s ability to combat and conquer France, which was a challenging step. ” This displays Henry’s self-confidence in himself and his country by joking confidently about conquering France as if it was a minor issue. to fare the final step during the battle of Harfleur.

O hard condition…”

He also stood up for what he was. This endowed gift permitted Henry to interact with and accurately perceive what the majority of the English population thought. When the Dauphin, sent by the king of France presented him with tennis balls Henry cunningly accepted the offensive gift and pronounced: “When we have match’d our rackets to these balls We will in France, by God’s grace, play a set.

One of the many qualities that make Henry a good king was that he was proud of his country and its achievements. Henry, an able, fierce warrior was a role model to his troops in how they should fight a battle and endure anything the enemy could put forth.

Henry had an advantage over all the former kings England possessed. Due to his lowly upbringing, he possessed the unique ability to properly understand the psyche of the English “common man”. Henry micro-managed the situation with the utmost precision. This also made the English lower class feel more “on their ruler’s level”.

Henry’s name is firmly inscribed in England’s history and bears a great amount of respect to English and French alike. He was “the peoples king” who’s brilliant character and illustrious personality embedded his title in the heart of every Englishman.
