College Entrance essay
I have spent most of my life in a small town. Despite this small town upbringing, I have always had big dreams. As a little girl, I wanted to be everything under the sun. I dreamed of being a pop princess like Madonna, and then I would change my mind and want to become a firefighter. Working at a pediatric office for the past two years really sparked my interest in the medical field. The idea of college level classes does not frighten me too much. After making myself crazy trying to choose a career path, I think that I have finally come to a conclusion. Some people think that being a dreamer will just lead to future disillusionment, but I feel that without my vivid imagination I would have never accomplished all that I have. They all thought that school was to be taken lightly. I thought at first that I wanted to be a physician, but after seeing the countless number of children and adults who have benefited from psychological treatment, I decided that I would rather work at healing the mind than the body. My dreams have grown more attainable since my childhood. I will major in Psychology, and let life take me from there. Nevertheless, I took school very seriously and made various sacrifices to insure my academic success. Presently, I am focused on college. I no longer plan to single-handedly save the rain forest or to set a world record for skydiving. College Calculus is a little intimidating, but I feel that if I make a conscious effort to do well I will succeed. I simply hope to make a difference with my life, and to be happy with the choices that I have made.
