Cinderella vs Daniel
The short story Cinderella by Charles Perrault, and the movie Ever After by Andy Tennant, are both different versions of Cinderella. There are approximately 500 versions of the Cinderella story in circulation, making it the most famous fairy tale in the world. Charles Perrault's version of Cinderella is almost like the standard story, which we all have heard about when we were young. It is magical and enchanting, but at the same time it is very superficial, with a "fairy godmother" and a "magic pumpkin". However, Tennant's version is more realistic, there is no magical gourd and no stroke of midnight, but there is a husband prince, an evil stepmother and, naturally, a pretty girl down in her luck. The "fairy godmother" does not pop up from the sky in Ever After, but instead is replaced with Leonardo Da Vinic. One of the wonderful things about Ever After is its clever blend of historical accuracy and fantasy. The most interesting differences about Cinderella and Danielle is, Cinderella is usually about a passive woman waiting for a strong, handsome prince to rescue her, until now. Ever After shows us the viewer that there are many other sides to Cinderella's character. She is
Even as a little girl, the feisty Danielle could whip the boy next door. She does this because she is helping him in a time of need. She shared the oranges and lemons the prince had given her. In short, Danielle is a "Cinderella" for a new generation. "Cinderella raised them up and kissed them and said she forgave them with all her heart and wanted them only always to love her" Perrault p. This may be because Charles Perrault version was written in the olden days, and women in general did not have that much freedom, and education. In this modern retelling of the well-know fable, she is one princess-in-waiting who does not need rescuing by any knight in shining armor. However, Danielle does see the evil and stands up against her forceful stepmother, and selfish stepsister. The reader often feels sorry for Cinderella, because she is such a pleasant and generous woman; she did not see the evil in her stepfamily. In Charles Perrault Cinderella, she does not mind the inequality she is given, she believes that she's just not doing enough for her stepmother. Thus, completes the comparison of both Cinderellas. n't so fragile and gentle, she is no longer the victim, she doesn't fall in love at first sight compared to Charles Perrault's Cinderella.
