Beowulf

The story of Beowulf starts out very gruesome and bloody. Before we hear about

all of the disaster these mengo through, we read about a moster who terrorizes the Danes

Grendel was conceived by a pair of those monsters born of Cain. The creatures

were banished by God forever for the crime of Abel's death. They were shut away from

men into many forms of evil such as monsters, giants, fiends, and goblins and defeated

many times. Grendel lives in darkness on a mountain lake and doesnt like being

disturbed. Grendel haunted the moors and the men who rejoiced in the Herot or Mead

hall. The Herot was a central gathering where the warriors could feast, listen to stories

told by the great bards, and sleep quietly and very safely. After a big night of drinking,

partying, and singing sonds of the ancient beginnings in the Herot, Grendel entered very

slowly and silently and took up thirty men and smashed them

. . .

Grendel went on a prowl again that night into the

Herot at the same time. The quickly went before Hrothgar when help was

desperately needed.

Herot stayed deserted for years and for twelve straight winters, there was much

grief. Beowulf now leads his soldiers to the

Danish King to find out what they are to do so that there fate can take full control over

them.

Hrothgar and his council tried to come up with ways to defeat the heartless

creature while talking of terror in secret sessions and wondering what the greatest

warriors in the world could do. The agony on the king and his people was to cruel, violent, and

evil to possibly bear. It is also to

show the power and cruelty of the creature Grendel who shows no remorse in his killings

and violent spurs. The only ones who were to survive are the ones who managed to

escape the Herot and run for cover while the others werent so fortunate.

This is the summary of the first pages of Beowulf and how the Geats were so

powerful and willing to help the King of the Danes in this great time of need.

Hrothgar needed strong and mighty men who would take on the monster Grendel. So,

Beowulf chose the strongest and most powerful Geats he could find, fourteen in all and

led them down to their boat. Grendel saught out no peace, no ammount of money,

or a truce of any kind.

Beowul, Higlac, and the strongest of the Geats who were stronger than anyone in the

whole world heard about the creature Grendel and his nights filled with horror and death

and demanded they go see King Hrothgar right away when help was needed the most. He no lived in the Herot but would never dare touch Hrothgar's

throne which was protected by God. Hrothgar cried for the fate of his later friends murdered by the creature

Grendel who showed absolutely no remorse and for the fear that this might be the

beginning of the end for his people.
