Both people are sending and receiving messages. The process repeats itself time after time. To complete the process you must communicate back. One-way communication is a little trickier because you do not receive a message back. If you read it you are participating in communication. The one way and the two way channels. It is a message being sent with no feedback. An example of two-way communication is the telephone. This is where listening comes into play. Speaking is the most common way to send feedback. You put your thoughts down on paper and whoever reads your writing, knows what you're thinking about.
