The Lunar Landings: Conspiracy or Reality.

On July 20, 1969 the whole world watched as American astronaut Neil Armstrong took the first step onto the surface of the moon. America's space program, in place since the 1950's, had won the race to put men on the moon and return the astronauts safely to earth. Or did they? Is it possible that the entire lunar landing did not really happen at all and was kept a secret from not only the United States but from nations all over the world? The controversy over whether the United States went to the moon is becoming popular and conspiracy theorists are convincing people not only in the United States, but also all over the world that Americans never landed on the moon. It was John F. Kennedy's dream in the early 1960's to expand the space program to include a successful lunar landing before the end of the decade: I believe that this nation should commit itself. To achieving the goal before this decade is out of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth. No single space project will be more impressive to mankind or more important for the long range exploration of space ("One Giant Leap"). Since the Soviet Union was the first to launch a man and woman into space and the first to orbit the earth, Kennedy w

This is true as Phil Plait explains in his article titled "Bad Astronomy", "The lunar surface is brightly lit by the Sun, of course, and your friends wearing a white space suit also brightly lit by the sun. Many others believe it is impossible to make such an enormous jump in only a few years. There is a picture, famous among theorists that shows a rock with the letter "C" on it, although the picture is said not be the original photo. Kaysing explains, "The technology used to fly Apollo 11 to the moon was extremely primitive compared with today's standards. Pictures, videos, and rocks are the only physical evidence that the United States has that proves they went to the moon and no one has ever had any reason to question the authenticity of the proof. The brightness of the sun on the lunar surface makes the stars appear faint, that is why they do not show up in pictures taken of brightly lit objects. Considerations, such as size and weight were thought about before taking anything to the moon. Kennedy had made its NASA responsibility to do so within a decade. After thorough examination of these belts, the NASA researchers found going through them would be a minimal risk. A flag wouldn't wave in a vacuum" (Plait 11). Theorists claim that the Lunar Module hatch was not big enough for the astronauts to get out of with their space equipment on.
