Body Language

Body language is the way that we hold and move our bodies in when we are giving or receiving information. There are two broad types of body language: open body language and closed body language. Some body language theorists say that these are very old behaviours which date back to our early ancestors. By maintaining open body language, our ancestors showed that they had no concealed weapons hidden behind their back, their armpits or in their hands. By opening our hands, unfolding our arms and bodies we still show that we mean the other person no harm. Tone of VoiceHow we say something is as important as what we say. · The team members project attitudes and feelings through non-verbal communication. An open manner is a good start to an open, frank conversation. It is possible to completely change meaning by changing our tone of voice. The direct stare of the sender of the message conveys candor and openness. Downward glances are generally associated with modesty.
