Since 1945, Canadians have increasingly introduced legislation to fight many forms of discrimination, especially the ones, which have economic implications. Canada is currently overhauling its Immigration and Citizenship legislation and has established a long-term goal of 300,000 immigrants annually, or one percent of its population. During 1980, Canada’s entire backlog for refugee was roughly 23,000. Because Canada’s a big recipient of Immigrants, since the last century it has been observed that they all go to Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal. It has been said that Canada landed more immigrants during 2000 than it has for nearly a decade exceeding its targets after two years of failing to even come close. In the points system, immigration officers assign points up to a fixed maximum in each of several categories, such as education, employment opportunities in Canada, age, the individual's personal characteristics, and degree of fluency in English or French. This includes The introduction of a Permanent Resident Card, featuring a number of security elements, will make it easier for permanent residents to re-enter Canada after traveling abroad and a better check to control human trafficking. The perception of the benefits of life in Canada cannot and should not, by itself, justify the demand driven immigration policies.
