             This is a point where it becomes clear to this young girl that her father, although he acts very stern with her, cares deeply for her. He shows her the kind of love that she describes as having no words to thank him for. She acknowledges her fathers selfless actions and finds a deeper understanding of what motivated her father's current behavior. His love is strong enough to discipline her in a way that might seem to hurt their relationship, when his attempts are merely save her from her own foolish juvenile behavior. He is strong enough to be a parent, not a friend.
             "All of these women were here for the same reason. They were said to have been seen at night rising from the ground like birds on fire. A loved one, a friend, or a neighbor had accused them of causing the death of a child. A few other people agreeing with these stories was all that was needed to have them arrested. And sometimes even killed." Pg. 38 Social injustice
             It is clear that these people are all interested in some sort of witch hunt. A mix of paranoia and precarious behavior is causing people to jump to conclusions that they feel give them a false sense of security. What makes this an injustice is that innocent people are being persecuted in such a way that leaves them helpless to the hearsay that has enveloped them into a guilty verdict that was reached before the accused had time to even defend themselves.
