The heart is capable of some very noble emotions and feelings but in the same time it has the most ancient and despicable feeling of them all vengence.In all three stories that we observe a common theme ,the use of the Babylonian principle "An eye for an eye , a tooth for a tooth " . In Edgar Alan Poe`s " The Cask of Amontillado" because of an insult Montresor kills Fortunado . In Luise Erdich`s "Fleur" the little girl kills Duch , Tor and Lilly for what they did to Fleur and maybe for her the way they were treating her . In Andre Dudus`s "Killings" Matt kills the man that killed his son , Strout . All the stories have a similar plot , taking advantage of something around them the characters precede with their plan in having their revenge in the people that harmed them . All the characters used in these stories by Poe, Erdich and Dudus had reasons for the action they committed and they thought that the way to go was revenge but in the end they realized it was not quite what they expected. In Fleur in my opinion is a conflict between the native American and the Anglos, Fleur represent the native Americans with their rituals, unusual for the Anglos that because of that labeled them as evil. ents as main characters two so called friends in the high society in medieval Italy, Fortunado and Montresor . They are showed as self centered individuals that care for themselfs and only themselfs , during the storm they got in the "safe" place without concern for the little girl. Fleur is a very strong person mentally and physically. In the same way as Montresor are the three men in "Fleur" , Duch ,Tor and Lilly that represent the bad element. ,he also knows how to manipulate people. The three mea represent the Anglos, the worst one , Lilly he was also the whitest. Montresor on the other hand is a more calm person, does not take so much joy out of life, takes things to seriously, we can see this in the fact that his whole revenge plan started with an insult from Fortunado that harmed him more that a thousand injuries. She is not intimidated ,we can tell she is brave and will not stand there and take it. Fleur is the person that everyone stays away from, she is described as being good looking but because she had some accidents in the lake and combined with the native American legends she is labeled as someone that brings bad luck by society. The rape represents the way the Anglos took the belongings of the native Americans. Revenge most of the time is overrated and it is not worth it but many people do it just to discover that by far is not what they expected. He is sneaky and smart in the same time taking advantage of the carnival, telling his servants not to take the day off ,planning his alibi and playing the wine tasting card when he needed to get Fortunado alone. From we can see that they have low morals if any. The crime can be planned like in " The Cask of Amontillado" or just a spur of the take revenge like in " Fleur", in both cases it did not have the sweet taste that was believed to have .
