Sea Turtles Have been walking on this earth for more than 150 million years. Even thought they have just recently become popular since Crush came onto the big screen in the movie “Finding Nemo.” Showing the world just how fascinating Green sea turtles really are. The sea turtles runs in its own class of an intelligent being. As time flies by, they are becoming more and more extinct. The world understands them to be a magical, yet respected creature. . In my report I will be covering five essential questions. Such as what are some unnatural causes to the deaths of sea turtles? How Green sea turtles get their food, and what it is there eating. How the Green sea turtle reproduces. where does the Green sea turtle live? And finally I will be explaining 3 things I have learned about the green sea turtle from doing this report. The juvenile Turtle starts out as an Omnivores. Because green turtles feed in marine pastures in quiet, low-energy areas, but nest on high energy beaches, their feeding and nesting habitats are, of necessity, located some distance apart. So they basically start out as a carnivore and become a vegetarian. Along with this, there is also a disease called Fibropapilloma, which causes the sea turtle to get a tumor from which never heals. International trade in sea turtle parts is also illegal under an agreement known as the Convention for International Trade of Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora. ell of a turtle is one of the most complex defense weapons to any animal. The sad thing is Seabirds, crabs and fish are often waiting nearby, ready to grab a hatchling as an easy meal. Hatchlings leave the beach and move into convergence zones in the open ocean where they spend an undetermined length of time. They would starve from ingesting it. Balls of oil and tar have also been found in the mouths of the dead turtles. The nesting happens at night, with each nesting female coming ashore to lay eggs as many as five times, at 11 to 18 day intervals. As I look back on this report, it makes me realize how important it is to protect these wonderful creatures. Feeding pastures are often used as resting areas, both at night and during the day. It causes tumors as large as a grapefruit to grow over a turtle eye, mouth and neck. Another common way sea turtles dies are getting caught in a fishing net.
