             Depression an abnormal emotional state characterized by exaggerated feelings of sadness, melancholy, dejection, worthlessness, and hopelessness that are inappropriate and out of proportion to reality. Depression is a major problem with our adolescents and the number of incidences is growing. Teenagers go through some of the biggest changes in their lives
             Depression is a harmful disease that can kill a person if not treated. According to the article Young and Depressed, tens years ago this disease was for adults but, as teen depression comes out of the closet. It's getting easier to spot-and sufferers can hope for a brighter.
             Teenage depression is a growing problem in today's society and is often a major contributing factor for a multitude of adolescent problems. Today in the United States we are dealing with a large population that suffers from major depression. Why are these rates of depression in the teenage years so high? Is it their grades, their relationship with their friends and family, alcohol, drugs, sex, or is it something else? According to the article Young and Depressed "Linda Camilleri found her daughter vomiting all over the floor. Brianne was rushed threw the hospital where she was convinced a psychiatrist that it had been a one time impulse. Brianne had a schizophrenic brother and a cousin who committed suicide."
