Eliot’s “The Hollow Men” is a comparison of two kingdoms one good and the other bad. The author makes it a point that when the narrator is sick and tired of people not seeing what they can achieve, and just tired of what life has dealt him. In the quote “behaving as the wind behaves” (II. They do this so that congress will pass bills and laws to make the board chairs and CEO’s jobs easier by removing the ropes that tie their hands behind their backs to do regularly illegal deals and trades. We all end up in the same place in the end no matter who you are. It also means that society is ignorant to the fact that the government does not care what the public says, and that they only care about their own political agendas.

The second theme is a lack of an emotional outlet to express ideas, opinions, and requests. The whole tone of this poem is dark and mysterious, suggesting death and a lack of purpose. Also the quote assures the reader that the narrator is fed up with trying to change people, and trying to make people see who they truly are.
