What Is The Church
The church is the spiritual body of Christ. Today we often get the wrong interpretation of the word church. When we think of the word church we often first think of the building in which we conduct worship. While the church is this, it is also much more. The church is the body of believers who seek to imitate the way of Christ Jesus. These people also are unified in their beliefs and unite as a family to help each get to heaven. The beginning of the church was in Gods plan from the very beginning. We can prove this through many Old Testament prophesies. John the Baptist first began the preparation of the church. He began by calling people together to prepare for the coming of the messiah. Through divine inspiration he immersed people in water, baptizing them. Next came Christ who laid the foundation for the church. The story of the life of Jesus of Nazareth is the greatest story ever told. Jesus' apostles were baptized for several purposes. The Christian can rejoice because the church is built upon the firm foundation of Gods truth. Following this, these three thousand were referred to by Luke as the Church. The church of the New Testament has an enduring foundation. Also throughout the scriptures the word "kingdom" has a prophetic use in the scriptures. Thirdly the church is referred to as "the kingdom of God. Gods work paid off and the church rose and was born. " Also the members of the church are spoken of as "the children of God. When looking for a New Testament church we are to consider several things. Thirdly the inspired writers used it to describe the type of church. The foundation of the church also is found from the truth revealed to the apostles. Fourth, they used it in an assembly sense, as a congregation gathered for worship. The terms of the entrance into the church are applied to each of us.
