Private Schools versus Public
It has been said that it is better for kids to go to a smaller school, instead of a city school, but since transferring my daughter I have found that not to be true for every one. December 2001 I had to transfer my daughter out of the City School system into the Private School system. Since I went through the Private School system, I didn't think it would be a bad move. But since my daughter has been in Private School I have had nothing but problems with the school. Being a smaller school their atmosphere is geared toward a private school mentality when it is a public school. It has been said that it is better for kids to go to a smaller school instead of a city school, but since transferring my daughter I have not found that to be true.The first problem I have found wrong with Private School is that they are not prepared for the rising population of children. The classrooms are small and they don't seem to have enough room for the children. My daughter did not have a desk for herself she had to share a table with two other students. My daughter has come home and told me that she is constantly being picked on. Since my daughter was halfway through the school year, and it was kindergarten, I did not make a fuss over it. She would come home and say that she already knows what the teacher was teaching, and that she was bored. At Private, there is a big difference. Talking to the administrator I learned that this is for workbooks that the class needed. best way to teach a class of kindergarteners. When my daughter first started kindergarten at Private, I was sent a note home saying that there was a classroom fee of thirty-six dollars. It seems that she is a sick all the time. With the City schools hours I have to rush to appointments with doctors, picture taking, or social events. At the City school I have found that the teachers were more willing to talk to the parents. When I transferred my daughter to the kindergarten class at Private she was bored. I think that the people who have problems with City schools should research and reevaluate their ideas. I found that the hours at City Schools are more convenient for me.
