Courage
There has been a moment though out every persons life were they have had to mount some courage to overcome an obstacle, goal or even a disaster. In Webster's Dictionary, courage is defined as, "the attitude of facing and dealing with anything recognized as dangerous, difficult, or painful"("courage" 318). Courage is considered to be a noble and right thing in almost every ones mind. Whether or not someone obtains this can make a huge difference in the way people look on, talk about and even whether or not they will try to befriend that person. Courage can be defined by characteristics; bravery, daring, gallantry. Bravery is an example of being courageous. The word "bravery" is defined in Webster's New World Dictionary as, "the quality of being brave; valor" (Bravery 170). One example of bravery is the story of a fifteen-year-old boy in Texas. In the New American news, "Teen risked life to save a young girl"(The New American, Feb 25, 2002), this is a great example of the word "bravery". There were two eleven-year-old twin sisters who were riding bicycles in their neighborhood. When they were riding their bicycles in their neighborhood, there were two pit bulls barking behind a wooden fence in a
Courage isn't trivial or negligible; it may be what allows us to survive. When he tried to escape from dogs, the dog bit through his front tire and made it flat and the dogs began to bite him. The dogs some how escaped the fence and began chasing two twin sisters. Who would want to in a live life of fear? So mount up some bravery, get ready to be daring, and do not forget to being gallantry. Gallantry is defined in Webster's Dictionary as, "nobility of behavior or spirit; heroic courage" ("gallantry" 552). When a neighbor pulled the dogs away, they took Brian to a children's medical center. " (South China Morning Post, March 3, 2000) it says that, " A family of five escaped a killer blaze yesterday by leaping over a gap at the top of two buildings. Flames and smoke blocked the family after the fire swept through their illegal rooftop home. There was a boy who has been selected for national gallantry award; the reason why he has been chosen for gallantry award is, because he saved three lives in the liver. When she open the door, smoke was spreading toward her so she returned home and woke her parents and brother and sisters. First, they tried to escape through the main door, but the thick smoke was blocking the way so they got out through a window and climbed out, they ran to the railings, which separate the roof between their block, and the adjacent building and they made a daring escape. In South China Morning Post' article, "Family's daring escape from killer fire. To be gallant is another way to describe the word "courage". I think the concept courage has a greater significance than we tend to give it.
