Man's Search for Meaning

             Recently I read an autobiography by Dr. Viktor E. Frankl called Man's Search for Meaning. In this novel, I learned about a doctor who survived the concentration camps. He pours his heart and soul into this story so that we would get a glimpse of his life during his trials in the concentration camps. From reading this autobiography, I have a better knowledge in surviving concentration camps. My heart goes out to the author, Dr. Viktor Frankl, who relives these tragedies in every page that he wrote. Dr. Frankl has discovered the meanings of life for many people, including myself. I feel he knows the meaning of life because of his horrendous experiences and his witness to the sufferings of others.
             One of the first ways to find the meaning of life is through creating a work or a deed to better yourself. An example would be, deciding that everyday an individual would say something or do something nice for another person. By doing this, not only is the individual making someone else feel better about themselves, but they are also becoming sympathetic. It is quite certain that this person will be getting blessings for this (God never sleeps). In the concentration camps, there were many opportunities for Dr. Frankl to commit suicide, but he decided that he would never choose this path. Anyone who feels the need to commit suicide should read this novel to better understand the importance of life and how precious our lives are. While reading this novel, you find that Dr. Frankl was always trying to make other people feel better about themselves, and in turn he received some self-satisfaction.
             The second way that you to can find the meaning of life is by experiencing someone or something. By going up to an individual and just by speaking with the individual and hearing their sad stories is one way to help you understand the meaning of life.
