This article's focal point seems to be that without prescription long term unwanted behaviors can occur. Therefore more children being prescribed a drug for behaviors that they could grow out of in later years. But the two sides make good points on their argument. " Next, we have proponents who praise the drug for its effectiveness with aiding children who are having difficulties with daily functions. A professor of psychiatry, Russell Barkley, explains that, "We should neither be surprised nor alarmed to learn that 1 or even 2 percent of school-age children may be taking medications such as the stimulant Ritalin. He explains, "Without this medication, such children often will experience the harsh moral judgment, censure, punishment and social rejection.
