Waves- parts, behaviors, and different types.

Waves are motions that carry energy, from one place to another. These motions are caused by vibrations which cause molecules near the vibrations to also move, and transfer energy to other molecules. The object that causes this vibration is the source. There are two basic waves, transverse and compressional. Transverse waves generally move up and down or vertically, as the wave progresses forward. Compressional waves are different, as they move as a spring. The particles move back and forth as the wave progresses forward. There are many parts in a wave. The highest point in the wave is the crest, and the lowest part is the trough. In a compressional wave, when particles are packed together, it is in a state of compression. As the energy passes on, the particles move from each other and experience rarefaction. Wavelength is the distance from two similar points in a wave. The frequency is the amount of energy, measured in hertz, or Hz. Waves have different behaviors. Waves experience reflection when they strike an object and bounce off. The waves will also change direction, and differ in speed, as they transfer into a different medium. This is known as refraction. The overlapping or collision of two or mor

This process is similar in rainbows. The loudness is the human perception of sound intensity. If their amplitudes are then they will make a smaller wave which is destructive interference. This means that they can be added together to make black. In incandescent light, a piece of filament is heated until light is given off. They are the outer, inner, and middle ear. These magnetic fields cannot exist without electric fields and vice versa. Light is used in lots of ways also. Microwaves can be used in cooking food. When a sound wave travels through a medium, it will slow down or speed up, depending on the density of the molecules. Radio waves can be used in transmitting radio station shows. These are also caused by vibrations. Opaque objects absorb most light and allow little to reflect. Sound can be used in many ways.
