In both movies The Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon there are many similarities and differences. The Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon are both part of a trilogy. The Silence of the Lambs was the first to be released and Red Dragon was the last, however Red Dragon is a prequel to movie because the events and time take place prior to The Silence of the Lambs. A few good comparison points of the two movies are main characters, plot, and actors. This serial killer thought the only way to conquer this task was by human consumption, which is also similar to Buffalo Bills motive for murder. In The Silence of the Lambs, Buffalo Bill killed his victims and kept their skin to make a "human suit. In both movies the same actor, Anthony Hopkins, plays the character of Hannibal Lector. In The Silence of the Lambs Hopkins did an extremely well job playing the part. Both movies also included different serial killers. The movie was released about 10 years after the original so Hopkins had to act even younger at a much older age. His real personality fit the description of the character very well. The Red Dragon suffered a childhood mental illness in which his escape was to become his childhood comic hero "The Red Dragon". However, in the prequel Hopkins's age difference was a major drawback. Like Bill, the Red Dragon killer was also making a transformation.
