Gun control
Gun control in America is a very big issue. It has such an effect because of who it affects, everyone. It seems that ever since the shooting a Columbine High School that it has been an even bigger fight in the courts. It also has become a major fight with many parents. On Mothers day at the Million Mom March on Washington 500,00 moms fought to have safety locks, and licensing on all guns. Many people came including celebrities such as Rosie O'Donnell to help to get more supporters for the fight. There is a big fight for gun control in Canada where guns are the cause of more then three deaths a day. Most deaths from guns occur in homes and more in rural areas then in cities. Just having a gun in your home increases the risk of suic
But the fight for gun control has already taken some major steps such as in Maryland where they have passed the law that there has to be locks on all guns sold in the state. I think that their is no way that they will ever get them off the streets but I do believe that someday in the future their will be a smart gun that will help to keep the rate of injuries and deaths down very much. It is estimated that in Quebec more then one third of all gun owners do not lock or legally stored. More then 30,000 people die a year from guns in the United States. But the main question is how long will it take for them to pass the safe gun law and will guns ever be off the street and also will we ever be able to keep them away from children that are under age. It is also a big problem in the United States as you can see from the first paragraph the fight for bill C-68 (gun control) includes the need for background checks, safety locks, and licensing and registering all handguns. The NRA is head up by a famous man named Charlton Hesston. I hope that this has helped you to learn a little more on the topic and have helped you to decide witch side you would like to take in the fight against guns. Which also helps to bring many followers to that group which makes it a harder fight. According to president Clinton 13 kids are shot a day. They thin that guns should be aloud in every home and that there should be less laws on guns then what people want. A group in the United States thinks differently about gun control called the NRA (the National Rifle Association). Also they have taken a case to court where they are trying to get something called the smart gun, which includes a built in lock that requires an access code to unlock and other gadgets that will help to make guns much safer.
