What features seem to make these toys attractive to children?
The main feature that I would say that attracts these toys to children is their bright colors, and their colorful patterns. The children are instantly attracted to the toys because of this, they love to stare off into colors that catch their eyes. Once they start playing with the toys though, they are attracted by the textures, such as foam, or the bumpy plastics of the legos, or even the wood from the toy blocks; these are what keeps the children playing with the toys. And children at that age especially boys are interested in building things, and making them come crashing to the ground as well.
What other toys are available for toddlers to play with that promote gross and fine motor development?

I observed a young boy about they age of 3. His first attempt was unsuccessful. Even though the teacher taught the children how to mix paints and how to use a paintbrush, he mixed all 4 of the colors immediately and smashed his brush into the paper and just rubbed it around. Overall he was having a very typical development, he was pretty much on pace. He was playing with the foam building blocks when I started to observe him. I really thought the way this room was set up made it easy for children to have fun and learn at the same time. The child showed using the Legos that he was very interested in figuring out how to make a large building. He pretended to answer he was using his imagination very well. He ran over to the jungle gym as fast as he could. He took a bunch of legos and stacked them in a one by one on top of each other; he wasn’t really putting them in any order, (like biggest to smallest. So he tried again, showing intelligence by putting more blocks on the bottom to make the blocks get higher.
Why are these toys appropriate for this age group?
These toys were appropriate for their age range, because children at the ages of 2, 3 and 4 are starting to get involved in such activities as pretend play and they like to get involved with jumping around and just creating their own fun from whatever they find.
