To Wear or Not to Wear

I do wear a fur! You ask me why? For hundreds of thousands of years man was a hunter. Animals were our food, our companions and our competitors. Also man has worn fur for thousands of years for both practical reasons and of course fashion. The fur trade has a long history. "The Phoenicians and other ancient civilizations traded in fur. Fur trade led to the expansion into the North America and decades of conflict between France and Britain. It also led to the depletion of many animal species and the destruction of Indian cultures"(Orton 381) During the last decades there were a lot of debates and controversies about using natural fur because of creation of artificial fur imitating the real one. But in spite of that fact millions of people still wear fur coats, hats and gloves....because of many reasons.Fur is warm. It is the nature's most persuasive answer to wintertime. Fur is fashionable. Casual or elegant it is always in stile. Now there is clear evidence that fur is coming back into fashion and such top designers as Yves St. Lauren, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace are using fur in their collections. Fur is versatile. It can be worn for all occasions. Whether with jeans

Despite all these arguments and facts in favor of wearing fur, there have always been opponents, such as "The Human Society of the United States that launched its "Shame of Fur" campaign in 1988. Fact #3: As a result of humane trap research and development initiated in Canadaover the past decades, quick-killing traps and "sets" are now available for over ninety percent of the furbearers taken in this country. "Myth #1: The fur trade endangers wildlife populations. In 1999, The HSUS renewed its anti-fur message with "Fur-Free 2000," a consumer-driven campaign designed to bring an end to the use of animal fur in the new century. ) "To wear or not to wear real fur coats, gloves, hats?" is one of the most debatable question in modern fashion and man's mentality. Fur is renewable, long lasting, biodegradable, and it is warmer than any synthetic product". There are many controversies about conditions on these farms. Most of the new trap designs have been submitted by trappers themselves. a lot of myths and legends connected with fur industry, trapping and fur farming have been spreading around during the last years. Trapping is monitored by government biologists and furbearer managers who set trapping seasons and, where necessary, specific harvesting quotas. Trapper education courses are ensuring that trappers everywhere learn to use the most advanced techniques. People living near Alaska, Tundra, Taiga consider fur to be the only possible material to save them from cold. This is assured by national and international regulations. Fact #1: No fur bearing species in endangered or threatened by fur trapping.
