Prufrock

T.S Eliot creates an unhappy and somewhat melancholy mood in the poem "The Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock." Prufrock is clearly dissatisfied with the way he has lead his life. He is in a constant struggle to seize the day, and make the most of life. His endless battle with time, his poor view of himself, and his lack of confidence towards women ultimately leads to his unhappiness.

He feels as though he has thrown away all of his opportunities to make something of himself, and therefore he is unhappy because he thinks he has lost his chance. Prufrock thinks he has been through everything and seen everything there is to see, but socially he hasn't opened himself up. Now that his time is running out, he feels like he can't make anything of himself, and no one wants to talk to him anymore. "Do I dare/disturb the universe?/I
