Apartheid in South AFrica

During the seventeenth century the English and Dutch colonized South Africa. "South Africa is a country blessed with an abundance of natural resources including fertile farmlands and unique mineral resources. South African mines are world leaders in the production of diamonds and gold as well as strategic metals such as platinum. The climate is mild, reportedly resembling the San Francisco bay area weather more than anywhere in the world" ("The History of Apartheid in South Africa"). Racial segregation and the supremacy of whites had been traditionally accepted in South Africa prior to 1948, but a policy of segregation and political and economic discrimina

African towns were taken over by the Afrikaners and were destroyed. tion against non-European groups in the Republic of South Africa came into existence between 1948 and 1991. com also maintains that the majority of non-white people in South Africa were most affected by apartheid, because the non-white populations were denied their human rights, including the right to vote and also the right to hold a position in government. com also claims that when Malan came to power with his Afrikaner Nationalist party platform, they were the ones that introduced the policy of apartheid. "The purpose of apartheid was separation of the races: not only of whites from nonwhites, but also of nonwhites from each other, and, among the Africans (called Bantu in South Africa), of one group from another" (Encyclopedia. com confirms that whites received all the good land and resources of South Africa and the blacks were forced to live in slums and in order to keep themselves fed had to do intense manual labor. "All blacks were required to carry ``pass books'' containing fingerprints, photo and information on access to non-black areas" ("The History of Apartheid in South Africa"). This policy was better known as apartheid, which when looked up in the dictionary literally means "racial segregation". This policy of government separated the whites from the non-whites, it was thought that by segregating the racial groups in South Africa, it could become a more peaceful place ("Apartheid In South Africa" 1). "The History of Apartheid In South Africa" implies that race laws influenced every aspect of life so extremely as to that marriage between non-whites and whites were not allowed, and the start of job positions becoming discriminatory as ``white-only'' jobs.
