Suburbia

I believe that the playwright choose the language he used to make the script more personal and realistic. The language used in this script enabled the characters and the world of the script to relate to the reader more efficiently. It seems like today's modern language consist of all kinds of slang terms and curse words. Everywhere a person goes, he or she will hear this type of language being spoken in everyday life. When scripts are written with perfect and clean language, it just doesn't make the script that believable or realistic. The characters and the world that they lived about in this script where very real and where easy to picture and relate to, because everyone knows this type of world and characters in their own everyday life. I think without the type of language used in the suburbia script, the script would have been poorly developed and not taken as seriously.
I think that the main theme in Suburbia was "what am I going to do with my life?" Throughout the whole script all, the characters like Jim, Buff, Sooze and Jeff were talking about their dreams and what they wanted to do with their lives. This theme also made the script more realistic, because everybody goes through that stage in their life when they wonder what is going to happen to them in their life. They always wonder what they are going to do and who they are going to be. Some examples from the script would be like Buff an his video tapes, Pony and his rock and roll career, Sooze and her art, Jeff and his writing abilities and even Norman with his dreams of being an engineer and going to school. The scripts main theme is based on one of the most personal related themes which make it such a great script.
Some other themes that where expressed in this script were racism and success. Racism was definitely a theme in the script because of all the racist remarks and comments made between Norman and Jeff
