Diving into the Wreck

” This book in which her name doesn‘t appear is a book of the stories of women who have gone before her, this tells of their healing process, their transformations. Hateful townspeople let Billy and Wyatt experience something they had never seen or even thought of before. The poem came at a time when nearly every woman could relate; it’s chaotic and even somewhat scary, but it’s through the experiences the author had that the inspiration for this powerful poem was written. Expressions of change and death are used to more fully impact the audience. “I came to see the damage that was done, and the treasures that prevail. The journey on which the characters transformed and became more aware of the realness of life, becomes a “book of myths” to the reader. This scene was the heart of the movie, it expresses the discovery of the realness of life, that hurt and pain are everywhere and everyone is susceptible to it. The final lines say, “carrying a book of myths in which our names do not appear. This is the theme of the poem; it pulls the poem together and makes it complete. “And there is no one to tell me where the ocean will begin. She is alone because self-discovery can only be done alone. grave and awkward mask” ( 5,7) are not everyday wear and may offer some discomfort for a first-timer, but this armor is for protection from what lurks in the icy darkness, or in the depths of her soul.
