Seperate Views of Architectural Design

Separate Views of Architectural Design

What should we do to solve the problem posed by the use and availability of the virtual reality design concept? This question was answered by two very similar yet different magazine articles. The first article was “Intelligent Architectural Modeling” from the AEC Magazine, which is a specialized magazine for professionals in the field of design and architecture. The second is “Diving Deeper into Designs” from the magazine Java World, which is used by many people in the information technology field. Both magazines cover the topic very well. There are however many differences in the two separate articles.

The first of the two articles “Intelligent Architectural Modeling” was written with the audience suppose to be a more technical or professional person. It was written to cover the problems with the virtual reality design and how people who use it with their profession approach the problems, such as companies like Graphisoft, Nemetschek, and Revit. In contrast the article “Diving Deeper into Designs” has more of a feel like it was written for college students or people learning to use the virtual reality system. Penn State University is referred to as one of the first schools in

. . .

Another reason is to inform people of who is using the software currently and in what ways they are using it. It also describes how it is so hard for this system to be implemented in more schools because of price and availability. This has a huge appeal in the design world and it also helps for future employment when a student is trained on such a unique and complex system.

Both of the authors seem to have the same message which is this new technology is what the future of design is all about. Day’s article is written to be a more serious informative piece on this not so well-known technology. Day’s magazine is seen mainly by professionals in the field of design. Both work very well for the intended purpose. To be honest this assignment was very difficult to understand at first glance. Muramoto wants simply to have young students or people wanting to learn about this technology to see how easy it is to use and what is can do for them. Day’s message is more in the now and how it will help professionals to do their job better, where as Muramoto’s message is more with learning the system and looking toward the future for students to change and evolve further with this technology. He wants you to go and learn more about it. The major difference is the audience and what each author wants from his audience. These two articles are different for the fact that they are giving off different messages. On the opposite side Muramoto is taking the view that this is a design system that students should become familiar with and learn to operate. His readers must be looking for the most modern and highly technological form of design.
