Genesis begins with a supreme being, God. This God has always existed and is the sole reason for all of creation. Humans have found the need to have a superior controller of the unknown.
This God takes the darkness and void and creates time itself. He separates lightness from darkness, which He calls Night and Day. He then creates Heaven and Earth, land and water. On the land, God makes plant life, seed and fruit bearing trees. He creates the stars in the heaven, the sun and moon. He places animals on land and in the water. Fish in the ocean and reproducing mammals on land. Final, but most important God creates man. He calls him Adam. Adam is put in charge of all these creatures.
In six days all this was achieved and on the seventh day, God pauses from all his work to rest and make this day holy.

In the Garden, the myth tells of how God places a serpent within Eden. One can live and worship this God and live eternally in Heaven or take the other path to Hell. The serpent knows that God has given all the fruits of the trees except one.
