Although some may disagree with the use of corporal punishment on children it seems clear that our current methods for disciplining children have failed. My father told me that when he was a boy of 12 or 13 he would put a rifle over his shoulder and ride his bicycle down public highways to go hunting with his friend. Today if a young boy did the same thing the police would be called to take the dangerous weapon away from the boy. In the old days my father new that everyone was watching him and that if he misbehaved he would be severely punished by not a court, not the police but by his own parents. Today a parent who has a child that shoots someone blames society, guns...everything and everyone but themselves. In the past the parents with a disobedient chilled would have been shamed
