A long trail of ups and downs forced Arthur Miller's characters of The Crucible to show their true sides. The structure of many of the characters changed throughout the play and was often very complex. Some were seemed to be stubborn and arrogance and then changed for the good and others were looked at as good and then changed for the worse. Hale has one of the biggest transformations in the play then any other character. Reverend Hale is the man who is called to help the town with its problems but by the end only forces them to proceed.
